The Primary Care Occupational Therapy Service is based within GP surgeries across
Lanarkshire.
What is Occupational Therapy (OT)?
Primary Care Occupational Therapists (OTs) help people who have noticed that their everyday activities (occupations) are starting o become more difficult, for example:
- at home – personal care needs,
- housework, cooking, participating in
- hobbies and leisure roles
- at work – support with returning to or
- maintaining paid work, carer roles,
- volunteering and education
- in the community – using public
- transport, shopping, socialising or being
- physically active

Musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapy
What do MSK physiotherapists do?
They assess and treat people who have any injury, disease or problem that relates to muscles, bones, joints and peripheral nerves. They may also provide advice to help you manage your condition, or refer you to other services as appropriate. The MSK physiotherapy service is based in a variety of health centres and hospital outpatient departments across all of Lanarkshire.
Podiatry Service
- The Podiatry Service provides triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, treatment and foot health education to patients with a lower limb condition or a condition throughout your body that affects the lower limb.
- Our podiatry service focuses on the needs of the individual to support and enable self care where possible.
- Patients (and carers and family members) are involved in the development and delivery of treatment plans where appropriate.
- All our Podiatrists are registered by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) who ensure that staff meet their standards for training, professional behaviour and health.
Weigh to Go
Free 15-week weight management programme. Join your local Weigh to Go class!
Weigh to Go is NHS Lanarkshire’s free 15-week weight management group, followed by 15-weeks of Weigh to Go Maintenance, held within various North Lanarkshire and South Lanarkshire leisure venues.
Community Addiction Recovery Service (CAReS)
CAReS will continue to provide a service to individuals experiencing significant difficulties with their alcohol-use or drug-use. The service will provide assessments, and collaboratively-designed interventions to assist individuals in better managing their alcohol and drug-use. Of the four localities, services have resumed face-to-face contact in three localities; Hamilton, Clydesdale and CamGlen. Details on East Kilbride Locality will be outlined shortly.
